Time is such a cruel mistress isn’t she? She gives you just a little taste, just enough to get by, but not so much that you can really enjoy any of it. Unless of course you enjoy being tortured like that. But yeah, I’m definitely starting to feel the crunch. Work has been fucking busy trying to get this side-project done on top of all the stuff I have to do normally. I’ll spare you all of the technical details, but I finally got something working and the fact that, for an extended period of time, couldn’t get it to work has been driving me fucking nuts. But now that hurdle has been jumped, hopefully things will let up a bit at work.

Naturally, I’ve been procrastinating with some of my school stuff too so now I’m getting a bit close to the edge. Nothing derrick can’t handle, but still if there’s one thing I should stay “point” on it’s school, especially considering I actually like the courses I’m taking (both are mobile design/development type courses), I mean I should be eating it for breakfast, lunch and dinner and not just casually snacking on it, being the mobile phone geek that I am.

But yeah, because of work and school, I haven’t had much time to indulge in one of my true loves, which is of course blogging. Unless of course you count my mobile blogging, which by the way I’ve taken up a few notches by adding a few voice blogs and even a poorly lit video blog. I discovered a free service called Jott, during my research for a class project to convert voice into an SMS text message. I got the idea when trying to text while driving. Even though I have mad texting skills and mad driving skills, combining the two is just fucking crazy. There has got to be a better fucking way, and apparently Jott has come up with a free solution.

Of course it wasn’t quite what I was hoping, because I wanted to code the program myself, but apparently there isn’t quite enough processing juice on mobile devices, at least not yet to do proper, speaker independent voice to text conversion. Supposedly, Windows Mobile 7 will be coming out with some voice command features and maybe the professor can get his hands on a beta. But until then, the voice recognition stuff must be performed on a computer or server outside of the device. That’s where Jott comes in. You log in to Jott.com, put your mobile information in there, program their toll-free number on your phone and pretty soon you can do stuff like record stuff with your voice and have it sent out as a text message. You can do other stuff like sending yourself voice to text reminders and even voice to blog, which I have setup to my blogger account, which also happens to be my photo blog. (Which is conveniently linked in the right navigation bar *wink-wink-nudge-nudge*)

It’s all pretty neat stuff, but all these short voice blogs, video blogs and picture blogs don’t quite replace the full-blown typewritten blogs that I do here in diaryland, so I’m pretty much here to stay, as time permits of course. I could of course just move all my operations to my blogger account, but I don’t have the time to figure out how to get my blogger as “pretty” as my diaryland blog. Plus, I like the idea of keeping my quickie mobile blogging stuff, separate from my more serious postings.

I am seriously considering finally setting up internet at the Bachelor pad though. Part of the reason I’ve been avoiding getting myself wired at my own place is because both work and school are at a convenient distance away and having a net connection at home would be yet another distraction to me. Its bad enough I have a PS3 that I’m addicted to, but give me the ability to actually download stuff and play online with it? Holy Fuck! Not to mention the late nights I’d be surfing all of the porn sites (one-handedly I might add), plus all the extracurricular blogging I’d likely be doing, it would be fucking madness I say!

But I think I’m just going to have to fold and get it. There’s no fucking downtime at work to use the net and the late nights I’ve been spending at the computer lab at school have been ridiculous especially when I still have to travel through the cold of winter. I just need a bit of fucking discipline that’s all. As for reclaiming some of my time, I’ve stopped playing Elder Scrolls Oblivion on my PS3 cold turkey, at least for now. There is no such thing as I’ll just play a quick level up set or do a quick quest thing with that game. If I’m on there, I’m on it for hours. I can’t afford that type of distraction right now. I’ve also been procrastinating on my laundry, big time, opting to dry clean most of my stuff and just washing my underwear and socks. Sometimes I even just buy new stuff to avoid the deed. But yeah I need to do some fucking laundry eventually.

But whatever, I’m getting a bit sleepy and I might as well take advantage of this net connection while I’m at my mom’s place to download some porn, Er *cough*, I mean educational material. Yeah, that’s the ticket. So until next time...
