2007-02-04 - 10:35 p.m. - i am derricks concession...
First of all, I want to say thank you to the Chicago Bears. It was a very good run both this year and even in the last season. It is because of this that the Bears franchise helped bring football back into my life. Although the Bears didnt take it all the way, it was a bittersweet moment to see them take it to the Super Bowl, something that hasnt happened in 21 years.
The way the Bears, played in Super Bowl XLI however, was disappointing to say the least. Sure there were a couple of great plays, but unfortunately they were confined to the first quarter with Hesters amazing kickoff return and the pass to Muhammad for a touchdown.
Its just that the Bears made way too many mistakes, fumbling the ball in too many key plays while giving up all those turnovers. And those two fucking interceptions thrown by Grossman, it felt like it was just nail after nail being hammered into the coffin. This is not to discount the Colts who not only had a consistent offense throughout the game that was able to convert to first downs in both passing and rushing, but a solid defense as well that was able to stop the Bears offense at almost every turn. Although Im utterly disappointed, I must make the concession that the Colts by far deserved the win this evening. People of Indiana and Colts fans alike, for the moment at least, have my respect and at the very least it's good to see Manning finally get the Championship. It just hurts that it was a against the Bears.
And with all that said, I feel like driving my fist and probably my entire leg though a fucking wall, then limping off into a fucking cave, curling up into the fetal position and going into hibernation, hoping that when I wake up next season they either trade Grossman or that he somehow learns to pass more consistently and stop throwing all those fucking interceptions. I guess I shouldnt hold my breath. Well, anyway thats my rant for now, until next time...
