There's are a few annoying little quirks in diaryland in terms of modifying the design. If you re-design your diary template the changes do NOT apply to previous entries :( For someone like me who has been tweaking his diary for the past couple of days trying to get the design to look as perfectly as possible it can be extremely frustrating.
Over the span of the last two days I've added an aim link, a guestbook, a link to sweetreviews, an "about me" entry and links to it, and an entry on martinis and how it relates to my screen name and links to that as well, I have placed alt text and links to all the pictures as well and in between I have been doing constant tweaks to the layout to get everything to fit as nicely as possible. So the latest page is how everything is meant to appear at this point and as you scroll back to previous entries you can see the various stages of de-evolution in my design, links on my navigation bar begin to dissapear and even worse are the oldest templates where my old and now non-existant banner image hangs hideously over my oldest entries.
If anybody is considering the "weblog style" diary layout option which allows many entries per page, I would suggest against it unless you are going to stick to one design and you are meticulous about creating new pages when a particular group of entries becomes too long. The one entry per page layout is much neater anyway.
I'm going to check out the help and FAQ section to see if there is anything that can be done about these problems, until then I apologize for the appearnce of 99% of my diary... =p
UPDATE: I figured out how to update older entries w/ a new template design. Just go into the edit/delete menu and edit the entry you want updated. You don't actually have to change anything, but when it saves that entry is updated. Of course it can be a pain when you have hundreds of single entries, but hey it beats waiting for the server to updated them, especially if your previous entries with older templates have bad images and/or links to them.
