2006-02-22 - 5:13 p.m. - the art of getting burnt out...

Ive been in some major hurt in terms of lack of rest because Ive been burning the candle at both ends as of late. Although they do take up a huge chunk of my waking hours, its not just work and school that has been burning me out. All the increased weekend activity has been taking its toll on me as well.

Because of my schedule, basically my only chance for rest is Wednesday and Thursday nights after work. Something always seems to come up Friday, Saturday and Sunday from all different directions despite my plans to be in the Library or Computer Lab working on my assignments. As a result, I usually wind up staying up late on Sunday and Monday night working on assignments due the next day. Of course by Monday and Tuesday morning, I totally feel tired. I suppose its the price one must pay for having a nightlife.

I totally went out Friday night after work with one group of friends and I hung out with another group of friends Saturday night spending money and drinking Vodka like they were water. It didnt help matters much that I donated blood in between on Saturday morning and felt really knocked out for the better part of the day, but when my cousin asked if I wanted to hang out, I practically jumped at the chance.

By Sunday I had 2 assignments Ive been meaning to accomplish but I couldnt even start them until late Sunday night. I wound up going to late brunch for my cousins upcoming birthday with some of the family and I spent the better part of the day helping my sister with her physics homework. Fun stuff making me use my brain power whist hung over.

My cousins also scored some, umm smokeable herbal vegetation that day. Quality stuff from what I heard too. One little bud had the whole family flying. 100% pure organic for all you health freaks. ;) I so wanted to take a hit Sunday night with the rest of the family, but I needed my mind straight to complete my assignment due the next day.

One of the things two of my cousins were talking about, while blown out of their skull, was making a movie inspired by that paralyzed guy that has a chip implanted into his brain so he can control a cursor on a computer screen. It seems Science Fiction has taken one step closer to reality. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/health/4396387.stm Apparently they had this plot all worked out and they were utterly enthusiastic about the whole deal and were trying to sell me on the idea. The funny thing was that they needed me to write the screenplay and were willing to cut me into the deal. Id take in 50% because Id actually be doing all the work and they would split the rest 25% each for the idea. Although the idea is fascinating, I wasnt completely sold on the concept that it would make a good movie, I guess I had to have been there with them high as a kite to totally grasp how cool their idea was.

Im totally going out of sequence here, I forgot to mention Friday night. Ive been hanging out with this Japanese girl off an on, mostly on an as friends basis, which is cool because shes fun to hang out with. Im not sure if she digs me directly or not. Scorpios are so hard to read. =p Anyway, last Friday was a little different than my usual outings. For some strange reason, females were noticing me. I wasnt the invisible guy that I normally was especially in a club/bar situation. I dont remember doing anything different, I was just getting lots of smiles and looks and flirtation especially from her friends.

Im not sure whats going on exactly, I dont think Im acting any differently than I usually do. Maybe its just the situation, females are probably a bit more hesitant to pick up on a total stranger, but if its a friend of a friend thing its much easier to just glide in. You gotta love social lubrication. Aside from it being unusual, it seems a bit ironic too considering Ive placed the pursuit of females on the backburner since the New Year. So now that those of the female persuasion are starting to dig me, Im not quite sure how to handle it. I guess Ill just do what I always do and just go with the flow. Besides, Im fucking tired of chasing skirts. Ill let females sweat me for once because really, who doesnt want a piece of the Derrick? Hold on now, dont all disagree with me at once =p

So anyway the Japanese girl left early with some guy friend of hers like 20 min after he arrived and totally ditched one of the friends yhat she came in with. Meanwhile, I was with another one of her friends doing the bump and grind, but the two guys she brought with her were in need of attention so she attended to them and apologized to me in the can I take a rain check? kind of way. The other girl was totally buzzed and was ready to go home so she asked me to take her out and help her find a cab, so escorted her outside and wwaved down a cab for her. I was kind of buzzed myself and wasnt sure if I should have went in with her or not, so she kissed me like she was saying good night and it was more of peck on the lips than anything else so I said my goodnight , closed the door and the cab took off. I went back into the club to look for the others, but it looks like they took off as well. I didnt feel like drinking anymore, so I called a cab and headed home. Sometime Monday afternoon she called me (getting my number from the Japanese girl) and thanked me for the nice time and for seeing her to the cab.

There were a few more details that Im just going to leave out because its quitting time at work and I dont feel like sticking around here. Theres supposed to be this bachelor/bachelorette charity auction that another one of my friends is being auctioned off in tonight. I should probably go straight home and rest, but instead Ill probably show up put in a few bids for her. Hey, what are friends for? ;) So until next time, domo arigato and sayonara.
